Really. Everywhere. And St. Peter, and Mary...
Six days of Rome has been overwhelming. I've seen most of the greatest hits, but still, there are so many more things to see. Next time, right...
Tomorrow I leave via a rental car for the hill towns of Umbria and Tuscany. This is the part I've been waiting for. Can't wait. Driving along with these maniacs will be interesting. At least my health is back up to par. In fact I'm feeling a lot better.
The afternoon rain came down in the heat around three. I crossed over Piazza National to duck for cover in the National Museum of Rome. There, I wandered through the quiet blank halls admiring some of the best Roman sculptures in the world.
The place was dead, and I lucked out when an English tour formed in front of me, and snuck us into the second floor fresco exhibition. That may have been the highlight for me thus far. There was a garden room entirely painted with blossoming plants and trees; flowers and birds adorned the little nuances. Really breathtaking. And so well preserved. I could almost smell the citrus.
On the road again in the morning. Off to see mid evil mountain towns and drink country wine. Yeah, my life is pretty cool.
Thinking of you all along the way.
Ciao for now,
